In an effort to elicit an autonomic sensory motor response—a pleasant, tingling sensation in the head and neck triggered by certain audio and visual stimuli, believed to promote relaxation and relieve stress—the Queens artist known as Virtual Perfection Cowboy subjects himself to all manner of spine-tingling textures in the new video for his track “Natureboy”: A paint-covered brush swirls across his face, his finger tickles a sticky, bright yellow flower, and his body gets coated in blades of grass.

What social / political issues are the most important to you?

There’s so many issues in today’s society that it’s hard to pick just one or two, especially when on top of it, it feels like some of the biggest issues right now are so out of our control. In an attempt to not be so overwhelmed with all of the world’s traumas that I am rendered mentally useless, I try to focus on how I can make a difference in the small bubble of the world I’m in. This has led me to feeling very strongly about increasing both racial and body diversity in the fashion and media industries.

With a focus in fine art and fashion photography, she likes to turn dreams and fantasies into reality. Her images often have a dreamy gaze on adulthood and depict herself and friends in poses that seem like a sensual renaissance. Her recent work includes a personal series of self-portraits, exploring the topics of intimacy and relationships in the modern age, and we also eagerly await her 2019 Zodiac Calendar.
